July 5th Beach Cleanup

July 5, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Each year on July 4th while we celebrate our nations freedom our beaches and waterways experience a high volume of visitors.  The ‘Day After’ results in large amounts of trash and debris generated from the festivities. You can be a Keeper and come out to one of the clean-up sites or adopt a beach location (see list below).

Thank you Jerry Folckemer at  Old City Homes for being our sponsor!

Keepers has successfully prevented over 530,000 (and still counting) cigarette butts from entering our oceans! Keep up the good work by winning the cigarette butt challenge. Winners at each adopted location receive a prize package full of goodies from area businesses.

This year we are sending all of the cigarette butts to TERRACYCLE.

The details:

  • You or your organization picks a location to adopt (see below). Adoption locations are first come first serve.
  • We provide the supplies to the adoptee including gloves, reusable bags, hand sanitizer, table, tent, way-finding signs, and directions for the day of the event.
  • The adopting organization posts on their social media and invites friends through other media outlets.
  • If you are not part of an adopting organization you just show up and help other dedicated volunteers clean the beach!

We are proud to announce the following adoptees:

Vilano Beach Ramp – Full Circle Natural Resource Management, LLC

St. Johns County Pier – St. Augustine Surf School

A street beach access – Beachcombers Restaurant

Fort Matanzas beach access – Liz the Fruit Surfer

Remaining adoption locations include:

Micklers Beachfront Park – Your business name here
Butler Beachfront Park East – Your business name here
Crescent Beachfront Park – Your business name here
